Dear Reader,

When I think back to my childhood in Vermont, I was often in the outdoors with my mom, identifying wildflowers and birds, swimming in rivers and exploring the woods.  When I wrote this poem, I wanted to weave together the themes of outdoor exploration and parental devotion, assuring children that our love for them is as steadfast as the tallest tree and as boundless as the night sky. This book could be a gift for Mother’s Day or Graduation; no matter how far away our children fly, they will always be our chickadees.
